Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos continues to be linked with a move to Ligue 1 outfit Lille, which has prompted plenty of commentary on his future.
Former Rennes and Colombia under-21 striker Victor Montano, who has scored 77 goals during his career, he has heaped praise on the 24-year-old Ibrox marksman.
He said (via Daily Record): “I respect very much what Alfredo Morelos has done in Rangers, but if that had been done by an Argentinian or a Brazilian, then teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United would be fighting for him.
“Without being disrespectful to Lille, who are a good team who will benefit his career if he moves there, as a Colombian, you will always have to take twice as long and work twice as hard to reach the elite clubs.
“Alfredo is a player who will guarantee you 20 goals a season. What team wouldn’t want that?
“Lille like signing up young players up as a protect. Their manager, Christophe Galtier, loves South American players and has a team that will be competing at the top in France.”
Do you think Rangers could yet keep Morelos at Ibrox this season?
Morelos has been prolific ever since he joined the ‘Gers in July 2017 as he has scored 77 goals, whilst also picking up 30 assists in 138 appearances, per Transfermarkt.
The 24-year-old has also played six times for Colombia, scoring one goal, and in the three seasons that he has played in Scotland, he has scored close to or over 20 goals a season in all competitions every time. After 18 goals in his first season in Britain, he then hit 30 in the 2018/19 campaign and 29 last term, per Transfermarkt.
These figures highlight how it is hard to disagree with Montano on the quality of Morelos, and with him still being quite young, there is plenty of scope for him to improve even further and earn a big-money move away from Ibrox, although he would then leave huge boots to fill at the Glasgow club if he moves son.
