Glasgow Rangers have missed out on Charlie Allen, as it has been confirmed that the Northern Irish youngster has completed a move to Leeds United.
The Gers had been linked with a transfer for the 16-year-old, who is Linfield’s youngest ever player after appearing for them at the age of just 15, but he has now completed a move to Leeds, who recently earned promotion to the Premier League. The teenager has signed a three-year deal with the Whites.
The Ibrox outfit actually do have a connection with Linfield, so they could well have been a very plausible destination for Allen but, despite his talent, the Gers will unlikely be too disappointed to miss out on the youngster. They have already added Charlie Lindsay and James Graham to their youth academy this summer, for example.
Are you disappointed with missing out on Charlie Allen?
With Leeds earning a spot amongst the elite, it will be interesting to see whether Allen can feature this coming campaign. In the coming years, as he continues to develop, Steven Gerrard and co will be hoping that he does not become the one that got away.
