Glasgow Rangers full-back Borna Barisic has admitted he does not like playing on plastic pitches ahead of the Gers’ clash against Livingston this weekend.
The Ibrox outfit have had a positive start to the season. As is stands, they are top of the Scottish Premiership, having won each of their first three matches, and they have not even conceded a goal. However, Livingston do play on an artificial field, and that does present a different problem for the 54-time Scottish champions.
Speaking ahead of the game, Barisic said:
“Honestly it is different of course on a plastic pitch and I am not a huge fan but we need to adapt as we have three of them to play on.
“I am very happy with a good start to the season for me but even happier because of the team and the clean sheets with nine points.
“I am excited about keeping this run going. It is very difficult to keep a clean sheet for three games so I am very happy because of this.
“We have confidence from the start to the season but also the hard work and 100 per cent focus we had in pre-season, this sets us up well for the remainder of the season.
“I practice free-kicks a lot, almost every day at training I stay behind to practice and I am very happy to score. I try to improve at training every day, I started pre-season in the best shape of my life and worked very hard to help both me personally and the team.”
As Barisic explains, an artificial pitch is not the same as playing on a grass field, but the Gers should have more than enough to be able to deal with the situation. Livingston are currently in 10th place in the table, and are yet to win a single game this term.
Will Rangers beat Livingston this weekend?
If £3.6m-valued Barisic – as per Transfermarkt – continues his form from the St. Johnstone clash – he scored and provided an assist – Steven Gerrard’s side should have no trouble in brushing their latest opponents aside.
