Kris Boyd has written in The Scottish Sun that Glasgow Rangers selling Ryan Kent would be catastrophic to their hopes of winning the Premiership this term.
Leeds United are interested in signing the 23-year-old, with them already have had a bid of £10m rejected by the Ibrox outfit. Now, there are reports that they will make an improved £14m offer for the left-winger, who has scored three goals in his first five league games this term.
Boyd has implored his former side not to sell, writing:
“If Rangers sell Ryan Kent to Leeds, they can almost certainly kiss goodbye to any hope of winning the Premiership title.
“The winger is the best player on the books at Ibrox by a distance and the club should not even be entertaining offers.
“Given what is at stake this season — with Celtic chasing ten in a row — it would be a catastrophic blow for boss Steven Gerrard to lose Kent.”
It is hard to disagree with Boyd – it would be a huge loss to the Gers to lose £3.15m-valued Kent (as per Transfermarkt). Not only because of what he can provide for the team, but also the timing. It is hard enough to replace a star player before the season begins, but it is far more difficult to do so when it has already started.
Would you be happy to see Ryan Kent leave Rangers?
There is still plenty of time left in this transfer window for Kent to be prised away from the Gers – Steven Gerrard will be hoping that he is still a part of his squad come October 6th.
