Glasgow Rangers: Gers close to beating 114-year record - Rangers News

Glasgow Rangers equalled a 114-year record on Saturday against Hamilton, and they have the chance to beat it against Dundee United in their next match after the international break.

The Gers are currently top of the league ahead of Hibernian, and their defence has been paramount to that success. So far, the Ibrox outfit are yet to concede, meaning they have kept six clean sheets in their first six matches of the campaign – Celtic were the last side to do this all the way back in 1906.

Who scored more goals for the Gers?

Steven Gerrard’s defence is arguably the most settled part of his whole squad. Borna Barisic and James Tavernier are guaranteed starters for the 54-time Scottish champions, having started each game in the Premiership so far this term. Connor Goldson, at centre-back, has also been an ever-present, and he has adapted fantastically to playing with both Leon Balogun and Filip Helander already this season.

Will the Gers break the record against Dundee United?

With Nikola Katic still to return from injury, Gerrard knows that he has a backline he can rely on. He will be hoping the back four can help him stop the Gers’ fierce rivals Celtic from making their own history this season by preventing them from winning a 10th title in a row.
