Despite being the club captain and one of the team’s most loyal servants in recent years, James Tavernier is seemingly not one of the most popular players among the Glasgow Rangers fan base.
Tavernier joined the club in 2015 and has since been a virtual ever-present in the starting XI. In 248 games for the ‘Gers, the right-back has managed an impressive 46 goals and 77 assists – whilst he has been criticised for his defending, he has been fantastic in the attacking third of the pitch. Howver, despite that enormous contribution, he has still been slammed on a regular basis by some of the supporters.
Former ‘Gers player Andy Halliday certainly does not agree with those critical fans – indeed, he has said that the abuse which Tavernier receives is ridiculous and undeserved.
Do you agree with Halliday's comments on Tavernier?
This has attracted the attention of many ‘Gers supporters and it appears to have divided opinion among the Ibrox faithful. Some agree with Halliday whilst others are standing by their assessment of the 28-year-old skipper.

Oh Andrew. And therein lies the problem. And most likely why we haven’t won a trophy in 10 years. Naming a right back who can’t defend as the best player in recent years? I’ll agree to disagree. https://t.co/nlG8rsOSET

Whilst I wasn’t a fan of Halliday the player, I’m a fan of Halliday the Rangers fan and pundit(ish). https://t.co/vlXSOIUHoO
