Whilst Glasgow Rangers have not won the Scottish Premiership for the last nine seasons, they have not always failed to sit on the summit of the table.
During the 1990s, the Gers were at their peak – they won the league nine times, and even went on a run of winning nine in a row before Celtic eventually toppled them. They had a side full of quality during that decade, with the likes of Ally McCoist, Brian Laudrup and Paul Gascoigne all pulling on the famous blue shirt.
Ian Durrant was another who was a huge part of the Gers’ team at that time. He didn’t score too many, but he did sometimes get himself on the scoresheet even in the biggest matches, such as against Celtic. On Wednesday, the Gers’ official Twitter account shared a video of Ian Durrant scoring against the Bhoys following a clever assist from McCoist.
Could Ian Durrant have been one of the best in Europe without his injury?
The video attracted plenty of attention from the Gers supporters, and they took the opportunity to reminisce about how good Durrant was – one even called him “formidable”. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments below.
What an 8, 9 and 10 we had then.

Til the day I die it’ll be my biggest Rangers ”what if” if he hadn’t got maimed by that animal Simpson. I will genuinely believe til I take my last breath that Durrant would’ve been 1 of the top 5 midfielders in Europe and had a truly global career.
What a player.
