Glasgow Rangers have had some fantastic Dutch players down the years.
It helped having a manager from the Netherlands in Dick Advocaat, and that led to a number of players from the Oranje making the move to Ibrox – the likes of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Arthur Numan, Ronald de Boer, Michael Mols and Fernando Ricksen all enjoyed success with the 54-time Scottish champions.
Bert Konterman was another who spent time with the Gers, joining for £4.3m in 2000 from Feyenoord and going on to spend three years at the club. That spell brought one Premiership title and two Scottish League Cups, as well as several entertaining moments along the way.
Were you a fan of Bert Konterman?
One of those came against the Gers’ fierce rivals, Celtic, with Konterman scoring with an absolutely stunning strike. As part of the Gers’ Goal of the Day series on Twitter, the club decided to share the goal, and it has delighted the supporters – one even called it “awesome”. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments below.
Big Bertie Bombscare. What a goal, I remember exactly where I was when it happened. Awesome. https://t.co/2pWVXfQLSm
