Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Glasgow Rangers’ Joe Aribo will remain unavailable for their match against Hamilton this weekend.
Aribo started the season in fantastic form – he started each of the first three Premiership matches, averaging a WhoScored rating of 7.67, whilst he even scored against St. Johnstone in the Gers’ 3-0 victory. He has missed the last two with injury, though, and whilst the Ibrox outfit did win their last match against Kilmarnock 2-0, it is no coincidence that the only match the Gers haven’t won in the league so far was one of the two Aribo missed.
Speaking prior to the match against Hamilton, Gerrard said:
“Jermain Defoe and Joe Aribo won’t make the Hamilton game. Both should make the next game. Leon Balogun is back available for selection. Allan McGregor has trained all week.”
This is not the best news for the 54-time Scottish champions – even the great Brian Laudrup has spoken about how important Aribo is to the Gers. However, they did at least show in the last match that they can get the job done without him.
Will Rangers beat Hamilton this weekend?
Having said that, Gerrard will be hoping the £900,000-valued 24-year-old – as per Transfermarkt – is back as soon as possible and with him mentioning he should be ok after this weekend, fans could see him back in blue against Dundee United after the international break.
