Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Ryan Jack will be missing for a few weeks following his injury against Dundee United.
So far this season, Jack has started every single Premiership game, with the Gers winning six and drawing one of their first seven matches without even conceding a goal. However, he was forced off against the Tangerines with a muscle injury.
Speaking ahead of the Gers’ Europa League tie against Lincoln Red Imps, he explained the intent of Jack’s injury. He said:
“Jacko will be missing for a few weeks at least,
“I think with him we have to take it day by day but we’ve had confirmation that he has a calf problem.
“So he’ll certainly be missing in the short term. It’s difficult to say whether it will be two, three or four weeks at the moment. But he’ll certainly miss a couple of weeks.”
This is not good news for the Gers at all. Jack has been a constant for Gerrard so far this term, and impressed last season – Jordan Campbell, who covers the Ibrox outfit for the Athletic, actually even said that he was the 54-time Scottish champions’ player of the season last term.
Will Glasgow Rangers miss Ryan Jack?
This injury certainly explains why Gerrard is said to be looking for another midfielder – the loss of a player like £1.53m-valued Jack (as per Transfermarkt) could derail the side’s season if they do not have an adequate replacement ready.
