Steven Gerrard has said that Glasgow Rangers’ Joe Aribo should be fit to face Kilmarnock next week.
The Nigeria international missed the Light Blues’ clash against Livingston on Sunday, the first match that the Ibrox outfit have failed to win in the Premiership this term. They didn’t even score, as they were held to a 0-0 draw at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
However, Gerrard has provided a boost ahead of their next match. He said:
“I’m hoping to have him back for next weekend. He’s got a small ankle problem that we scanned. There’s a bit of swelling in there which is obviously a big risk coming to a surface like this.
“We made the sensible call but I think we certainly missed Joe today as he’s obviously a game changer in the final third.”
Aribo scored in the Light Blues’ previous match against St Johnstone and he managed nine goals and eight assists in all competitions for the club last term – he is certainly a creative force in the middle of the park for Gerrard and it was clear that they missed his influence yesterday.
Has Aribo been a success at Ibrox?
Of course, every now and again the ‘Gers will fail to win – one such game in itself is not the end of the world. However, in the long run, they cannot afford to do this too often. Otherwise, it could be another trophyless season at Ibrox.
