Tam McManus believes that Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has had enough of Alfredo Morelos and wants him out of the door as soon as possible.
The future of the Colombia international, who signed for £1.o8m in 2017, remains uncertain – he has been continually linked with a move to Lille, with the two even reportedly coming to an agreement over personal terms, but as of yet no transfer fee has been agreed upon by the two clubs.
The 24-year-old was dropped from the squad for the Gers’ match against Kilmarnock, and McManus believes Gerrard has lost his patience with Morelos. He told the PLZ Soccer Show:
“I think Steven Gerrard has now got options and he can drop him.
“I just don’t think he could have dropped him in the first couple of games, he had nobody else, [Jermain] Defoe was out injured.
“Once Cedric Itten and Roofe came in the door, he’d options and he could drop him.
“I think now he’s going to go, I think Rangers will be looking to get him out of the door because they have got two guys in there who can fill in and score goals.
“They just couldn’t do it, they couldn’t drop him and I think he has had to humour him, Steven Gerrard, over the last three or four weeks, five weeks, he has had to humour him and put up with maybe his nonsense in training or not putting it all in.
“Now he’s got these two boys in, he’s had enough and he has just said ‘listen, you’re not involved in the squad’.
“He can be a disruptive influence, in terms of the squad and training sessions and all that.
“So, obviously Steven Gerrard has had enough, he has lost his patience and now I think he is finished at Rangers.”
Surely it is only a matter of time before Morelos is out of the door at Ibrox? After last weekend, he will surely find it hard to work his way back into the team, and with Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten now available, Gerrard certainly has enough alternative options.
Will Morelos still be at Rangers by the end of the transfer window?
The boss is probably finding the situation difficult to deal with. Hopefully, it is resolved sooner rather than later.
