Peter Lovenkrands is expecting Ianis Hagi to come back into the Glasgow Rangers team against Galatasaray despite Jordan Jones impressing and scoring against Motherwell in their previous match.

The 'Gers will host the Turkish side at Ibrox on Thursday in the Europa League play-offs, with the winner earning a spot in this year's group stage. The 54-time Scottish champions come into the game off the back of two good results, having beaten Willem II and Motherwell 4-0 and 5-1 respectively, and they will be hoping to continue that form here.

Jones scored in the win at Fir Park but ex-Ibrox hitman Lovenkrands believes that 21-year-old Hagi will return to the side. He said:

"Hagi was rested on Sunday and Jones came in and did really well.

"It was a great performance and a great goal.

"Jones will have put a doubt in his manager’s head.

"It’s a good problem for Steven Gerrard to have. Will he drop someone who came in and proved what he can do?

"It’s a hard choice, but I think he will put Hagi back in."

Jones' performance gives Gerrard something to consider - the 25-year-old could not have done much more than score in his first league appearance of the campaign. However, Hagi was brought in for £3m last term, and with five assists in 11 games this season he has been an important player.

Still, if the Romania international does not perform at his best, Gerrard will know that he has Jones to count upon and possibly produce the goods.
