Former Glasgow Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic has completed a move back to his homeland of Croatia to join NK Lokomotiva.
The 35-year-old may not have spent too long at Ibrox – in fact, he was only there for one-and-a-half seasons – but even during that time, he became a true fan favourite due to his performances. In just 56 games, he scored 36 goals and provided a further 15 assists, with his strikes helping the ‘Gers to win the 2010/11 Premiership title, which remains their most recent top-flight crown.
As the ‘Gers entered financial difficulties during the following campaign, the Croatia international was sold for £5.5m to Everton, and since then he has played for Hull and West Ham, whilst he has also spent considerable time in China.
Would you take Nikica Jelavic back at Ibrox?
He has now moved back to Croatia to join Lokomotiva, with him joining on a free transfer. Last season, they finished second in the country’s top-tier, their joint-highest finish in history, and they will be hoping that the signing of Jelavic can give them a huge boost this coming campaign. If he can replicate the kind of form that he showed at Ibrox, the Zagreb-based outfit won’t be stuck for goals this season.
