Joe Aribo suffered an injury whilst playing at Glasgow Rangers earlier this month with it looking likely that he would be ruled around for around four-six weeks. However the latest news around the player seems to suggest he might be missing for longer than first thought.
Nigeria announced their squad for the upcoming friendlies they have in October against Ivory Coast and Tunisia, and Aribo, who has played four times for his country and scored two goals, is not on the list which emphasises that they do not think he is going to be fit for those fixtures which are being played on the 9th and 13th of October.
This therefore indicates that he could be a doubt for the fixture in the Scottish Premiership immediately after that international break and it happens to be a big one for the Gers as they face arch-rivals Celtic in the Old Firm derby on the 17th of October.
Before his injury, the 24 year-old managed one goal in his three appearances, per Transfermarkt. He is arguably the Gers’ most creative spark in midfield as highlighted by his stats last season, when he managed ten goals and eight assists in all competitions.
With him being so young and producing a lot for the club in his debut campaign last season, if he is unavailable for the Celtic clash it will definitely be a big loss.
Many Gers fans will be hoping that he is not featuring for Nigeria so that he can focus on making sure he is fit and raring to go for the SPFL game.
