Rapid Vienna sporting director Zoran Barisic has said that anything could happen with regards to the future of midfielder Dejan Ljubicic, who is said to be a target for Glasgow Rangers.
Ljubicic, who has previously scored against the ‘Gers in the Europa League, is currently valued at £2m by his club and is attracting interest not only from the Ibrox outfit but also their Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic. As such, he could well be on the move this summer.
Speaking to Austrian media outlet Krone, Barisic said when asked whether the Vienna club can hold on to Ljubicic:
“I hope so. Anything can happen.
“There is currently no concrete offer, only loose inquiries.
“There will be no emergency sales. The economic situation is well known and challenging, but I would be stupid to put price tags on my players.”
This certainly leaves the door open to a departure for Ljubicic. Barisic has stated that he wants the 22-year-old to stay at the club, although it appears to be based more out of hope rather than any real concrete belief that he will still be playing his football in Austria next term.
Would you like to sign Ljubicic?
At £2m, he should not be a player that would break the bank for the ‘Gers. As they seek to win their first major trophy since 2011, this could well be an addition they should be looking to make, for their already know the danger that he can possess.
‘Gers fans, are you confident that Ljubicic will be at Ibrox next season? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
