Glasgow Rangers target Dejan Ljubicic has confirmed that he will be staying with Rapid Vienna this season.
The Gers had been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, with him said to have been available for a fee of £2m. However, whilst it has been confirmed that there were a number of clubs that were interested in his services, he has revealed that he will be staying with the Austrian side.
He told Sky Sports Austria when asked whether he would remain with Rapid: “Yes, I’m staying.”
Short and sweet, but there was nothing else that needed saying. The £2.7m-valued defensive midfielder – as per Transfermarkt – has been an important player for his current club over the past few years, making 102 appearances for them already – he has actually even scored against the Gers, in the Europa League, in the past.
Would you liked to have signed Ljubicic?
In this case, it appears that Steven Gerrard and co must return to the drawing board if they are to sign the midfielder that the boss has said that he wants.
