Jamie Murphy has completed a move from Glasgow Rangers to Premiership rivals Hibernian.
The 31-year-old signed permanently for the Gers for £1.08m in 2018 after an impressive loan spell saw him score five goals and create a further 10 in just 19 matches. Unfortunately, disaster struck at the start of the 2018/19 season, when he ruptured his cruciate ligament and missed 52 matches. He would play just 10 more times for the Ibrox outfit.
A run of seven goals in 10 matches on loan at Burton Albion, though, shows that he still has quality, and Hibernian have taken the opportunity to sign him. He has joined Hibs first on a temporary basis for one-year, with him then completing the switch to Easter Road on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
Are you said to see Jamie Murphy go?
Murphy has already made his first appearance for the Edinburgh outfit, against Aberdeen, and although he was unable to prevent his side from losing 1-0, it looks like a shrewd signing for the club. Whilst no-one could have predicted the injury, though, the 54-time Scottish champions will be disappointed to make a seven-figure loss on the Scotland international.
