Glasgow Rangers: Kevin Phillips believes targeted duo could be the difference - Rangers News

Kevin Phillips has said that Daniel Johnson and Jacob Murphy could help Glasgow Rangers to challenge for the Premiership titlethis season.

The ‘Gers have been linked with moves for both players, who currently play for Preston North End and Newcastle United respectively. As it stands, no agreement has been reached for either transfer target, so the 54-time Scottish champions must move quickly if they want to take them to Ibrox before the transfer window slams shut on Monday.

Who scored more goals for the Gers?

Phillips believes that they would be fantastic signings if they did move to Ibrox. He told Football Insider:

“It will be interesting to see who arrives at Rangers before the window shuts. Johnson and Murphy would add great quality to their squad and help them challenge Celtic for the title.

“Murphy’s similar to Scott Sinclair but he’s probably a bit more dynamic than what Scott was.”

Murphy has had a positive start to the campaign, scoring once and providing one assist in two Carabao Cup appearances, whilst Johnson also netted in the one appearance that he has made in the same competition this season. The former is valued by Transfermarkt at £3.15m, whilst the latter’s sum stands at £2.52m – if they want to sign both permanently, the ‘Gers would need to commit to a significant outlay.

Would you like to sign both of these players?

However, if they could be the difference between them finishing top or second in the table, it would prove to be money extremely well spent.
