Amiens president Bernard Joannin has said that the club must sell players before recruiting, particularly those who don’t want to be at the outfit, and that could be fantastic news for Glasgow Rangers and their pursuit of Bongani Zungu.
The Gers have been linked with a move for the South Africa international, with it even being reported the Ibrox outfit were in advanced talks for the 27-year-old. However, that speculation died down, until Zungu recently liked a comment from a Gers fan asking him to make the move to the 54-time Scottish champions.
Now, Joannin has spoken out about Amiens’ transfer business this summer. He said:
“Before recruiting anyone else, we have to sell and that means the players who don’t want to be here.
“There is no longer any question of keeping players who have their heads elsewhere.”
This is fantastic news for the Gers if they really are interested in taking Zungu to Scotland. He has 52 Ligue 1 appearances to his name, as well as 24 caps for his country, and at his age he has plenty of football left in front of him.
Would you like to sign Bongani Zungu?
It has been reported that the Ligue 1 side wanted €4m (£3.7m) for his services, but this latest update could indicate that they are willing to accept a smaller fee for the midfielder. As such, Ross Wilson could even secure a bargain for the Gers.
