Glasgow Rangers will play their fifth match of the Premiership season this afternoon.
The ‘Gers have had a promising start to the campaign, winning three of their first four matches in the league. However, they were held 0-0 at Livingston in their last outing and they will be looking to get back to winning ways against Kilmarnock at Ibrox today.
Here, we try to predict Steven Gerrard’s starting XI for the match:
In goal, Allan McGregor should come into the side. Jon McLaughlin has actually not conceded a goal during his spell between the sticks, but the former is still Gerrard’s number one and should therefore regain his place.
In defence, there is unlikely to be any changes. Leon Balogun has been ruled out, which will see Filip Helander keep his spot alongside Connor Goldson. James Tavernier and Borna Barisic will flank the central defensive pairing.
Glen Kamara and Ryan Jack should start in central midfield – they have appeared in every Premiership game so far. Unfortunately, Joe Aribo remains unavailable, as confirmed by Gerrard, so Kemar Roofe could slot into the attacking midfield spot as a result. Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi should provide the width.
Will Rangers beat Kilmarnock?
There could be a surprise up front. £13.5m-valued Alfredo Morelos was far from happy to be taken off against Livingston, and he admitted that he is open to a move away from Ibrox this summer. Cedric Itten signed for the ‘Gers this summer and he could get his first start for the club here.
