Glasgow Rangers face a huge clash this Thursday as they host Galatasaray in their Europa League play-off match.
The ‘Gers have beaten Lincoln Red Imps and Willem II to make it this far, but the Turkish giants are likely to be a whole different proposition.
With the games coming thick and fast, it remains to be seen what side Steven Gerrard selects. Here, we try to predict his starting XI.
In goal, expect Jon McLaughlin to appear. The 32-year-old has had a fantastic start to life at Ibrox, having kept six clean sheets in seven matches, and he should therefore be brought back into the side after Allan McGregor started against Motherwell.
In the back four, there is likely to be just one change, with Calvin Bassey being replaced by Borna Barisic. That means that there are starts for Filip Helander, Connor Goldson and James Tavernier.
The midfield could perhaps also see a change. Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield should be included, whilst Ianis Hagi could play alongside them. He was rested on Sunday and could therefore be brought back in here.
The reason for the Romania international’s move to central midfield could be down to Jordan Jones, who should retain his place at right wing after a fantastic display at the weekend which saw him score his first goal for the club. On the opposite flank, expect to see Ryan Kent.
Will Rangers beat Galatasaray?
Despite scoring a brace against the ‘Well – his first goals for the club since his £3m move from St. Gallen – Cedric Itten will be unavailable due to a knee injury. With Kemar Roofe also out, Alfredo Morelos is expected to lead the line.
