Glasgow Rangers continued their fantastic early season form with another win on Saturday, this time against Hamilton Academical.
The Gers went into the game having won four of their first five matches, with them not even conceding a goal. They once again remained water-tight at the back, whilst they scored twice at the other end as Ianis Hagi and James Tavernier bagged their first goals of the campaign.
The two goalscorers, as well as the defenders, will be the ones to receive the most praise, but Ryan Jack’s performance should not be overlooked. The midfielder has come under criticism from portions of the club’s fanbase so far this term, but he was brilliant this weekend.
In possession, he proved to be calm and composed. He landed 92% of the 98 passes he attempted, whilst he also completed all three of his dribbles. Three key passes also indicate that he was able to have a creative influence on the match.
Defensively, he was also solid, prevailing in eight of his nine duels and winning three tackles.
Should Ryan Jack start every game for Rangers?
The £1.53m-valued 28-year-old – as per Transfermarkt – has started every single game so far this term, which shows just how important he is to Steven Gerrard. This is a vital term for both Gerrard and his players – they are looking for a first piece of major silverware since 2011. More performances like this from Jack would give them a wonderful chance of doing just that.
