Glasgow Rangers target Crysencio Summerville says that it is not about money in regards to his new contract at Feyenoord, insinuating that he wants to stay with the Dutch outfit rather than move on.
The Gers have been linked with a move for the 18-year-old, who is making a name for himself already in the game – he appeared 21 times for ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie last term, scoring two goals and providing three assists during that time, whilst he has also struck six times in five matches for the Netherlands’ U19s.
Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, the teenager explained that he wants to see a plan rather than an increased salary at De Kuip. He said:
“We are looking at what is best for me, but we are not quite sure yet. The conversations (over a new deal) are going well.
“We’re not after money. It’s just about what’s best for me. Money is the last problem. I think it is quite funny when I read such things (about wanting a bigger wage).
“I really want to see a plan and I want (Feyenoord) to trust me. It’s not just about now or next year, but beyond that.”
The Gers would unlikely offer a huge pay packet to the youngster, but this is a blow to their hopes of taking him to Ibrox this summer. These comments indicate that the £810,000-valued winger – as per Transfermarkt – has no intention of leaving his homeland at this point in his career.
Would you like to sign Crysencio Summerville?
With Sheyi Ojo returning to Liverpool following his loan spell north of the border, Steven Gerrard could do with adding a right-winger to his squad. As Summerville is seemingly set to stay where he is for now, it is back to the drawing board for the boss and Ross Wilson.
