According to Alan Nixon, Glasgow Rangers will receive around £450,000 if Josh Windass completes his move to Sheffield Wednesday from Wigan Athletic.
Windass spent two years at Ibrox, from 2016 to 2018. He actually did rather well, certainly during the 2017/18 season when he managed 18 goals and eight assists in all competitions. He moved to the Latics in 2018, with the north-west English side paying £2.5m for his services.
He is now said to be close to a move to Wednesday, and Nixon has revealed how much the Gers would receive if the deal is completed. He shared on Twitter:
“Sheff Wed. Windass move gets done if pay the money Wigan are due to pay Rangers. About 450k.”
Windass was a divisive figure at Ibrox, even though he proved to be a valuable player in terms of goals and assists. His work-rate, for example, was certainly a sticking point for portions of the 54-time Scottish champions’ fanbase.
Do you wish Josh Windass had stayed at Ibrox?
At Wigan, he managed nine goals in 56 games, whilst he scored three in nine with the Owls on loan – clearly, he has the ability to find the back of the net, but he needs to find a settled home. Either way, the Gers will be delighted to still be making money from his sale.
