The 26-year-old left Ibrox in 2018, with the Gers receiving £2.5m for his services. He did not have the best of times with the Latics, scoring just nine goals in 56 appearances, but three strikes in nine games whilst on loan with the Owls appear to have persuaded the Yorkshire outfit to sign him on a permanent basis.
The Gers were still to receive a part of the payment from Wigan, meaning that the 54-time Scottish champions will receive a six-figure sum from this sale. Windass did relatively well for the Ibrox side during his time at the club, particularly during the 2017/18 campaign when he scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions, but he was not the most popular figure amongst the supporters.
