The Lowdown: Arfield’s goal disallowed
Shortly before the interval in today’s encounter, the Canada international appeared to have netted a third goal for the Ibrox outfit after a double for Antonio Colak put them 2-0 up on the half-hour mark.
However, his goal was chalked off by the referee for a supposed foul on Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon, which The Daily Record described as ‘harsh‘.
The Latest: Heart & Hand raging
Taking to Twitter after the goal was disallowed, Heart & Hand fumed over the decision made by the referee, even going as far as to call it ‘atrocious’.
The official Rangers media partner said after Arfield’s goal was chalked off: “Should be 3-0, atrocious decision from ref.”
The Verdict: Did not matter
Luckily for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team, the decision did not matter in the end as they won 4-0 anyway.
Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent added late goals in the second half as Rangers were helped by a red card by Cameron Devlin for the hosts a few minutes before the interval.
Still, the Light Blues would have hoped for the decision to go their way, and with VAR not set to be introduced into the Premiership until December, it is not clear whether it would have been overturned, and the Teddy Bears would have been able to put the game to bed in the first half.
