Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed that Fashion Sakala is out of Glasgow Rangers' game at Ibrox in the Premiership tonight through injury.

The Lowdown: Came off at the weekend

The Zambia international came off for Scott Wright in the 84th minute in the Light Blues' 2-1 defeat at St Johnstone last weekend with a suspected injury.

Van Bronckhorst has now confirmed the extent of the 25-year-old's issue ahead of their match at home to Hearts tonight.

The Latest: Sakala out for a week

Speaking to the media in his pre-game press conference ahead of tonight's clash, the Rangers boss has confirmed that Sakala has a 'minor muscle issue', which will rule him out against Hearts as well as the trip to St Mirren on Saturday.

Van Bronckhorst said: "Fashion has a minor muscle issue from Sunday and will be out for a week and back for sure after the World Cup."

The Verdict: Another blow for Rangers

Rangers have as many as nine first-team players ruled out through injury at the moment, so losing Sakala as well is yet another blow for the beleaguered Van Bronckhorst.

Against St Johnstone, the Zambian was one of the Gers' brighter sparks in what was otherwise a miserable game for the Ibrox giants.

Having made just six appearances in the Premiership so far this season, including three from the bench, Sakala has managed to pick up one goal, one assist and a man-of-the-match award. He has ranked highly among his team-mates for average shots and key passes per match, while no Rangers player dribbles more than him (WhoScored).

With that in mind, he will no doubt be a big miss as the Light Blues look to get themselves back on track tonight.
