The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Glasgow Rangers' lead domestic scout Robert Clarkson has now left Ibrox.

The Lowdown: Van Bronckhorst under pressure

It has been claimed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst could soon be a man under pressure as Light Blues manager.

This follows back-to-back 4-0 defeats earlier in the month at the hands of Celtic and Ajax respectively.

However, a member of his backroom staff has now left the Gers, following on from the departure of head of scouting Andy Scoulding.

The Latest: Clarkson leaves

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Ornstein has revealed that Rangers' lead domestic scout Clarkson has now left the club to head up the FA’s Talent ID from under-18 to senior level.

He finished his job after the closure of the summer transfer window and follows another member of the scouting department in Scoulding, who took up a role at Premier League Tottenham Hotspur, out the door.

The Verdict: Worrying

It does seem worrying that two key members of the same department have now left Rangers in a relatively short space of time.

As lead domestic scout, Clarkson would have been partially credited with the signing of centre-back John Souttar from Premiership rivals Hearts, while he would have also overseen youngsters to join the Rangers B team.

Nonetheless, the Light Blues now have an important vacancy to fill ahead of the January transfer window coming up.
