Glasgow Rangers have now been dealt a double injury blow as some early Team News has now emerged ahead of their Scottish Premiership opener.

The Lowdown: Season opener

The Ibrox outfit open their new SPFL season on Saturday lunchtime away at Livingston, where Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his team will be hoping to get off to the perfect start by taking all three points.

Losing out on the title to bitter rivals Celtic last term would have hurt, and the squad will no doubt be eager to rectify that this time around.

The Latest: Team News

Speaking in his pre-game press conference ahead of the match, Van Bronckhorst has revealed that Kemar Roofe is 'not in the squad', while new signing Rabbi Matondo will also miss out:

"Roofe is not in the squad for tomorrow, Lowry is back training to pick up fitness. Matondo will miss out tomorrow. Kemar is back on the pitch now so hopefully back involved in the coming weeks."

The Verdict: Double blow

Of course, missing both Roofe and Matondo for the game is a big blow for the Light Blues, especially considering that Alfredo Morelos is also not ready to play.

It leaves them relatively light up top, with Fashion Sakala and new signing Antonio Colak, who needs time to adapt to the league, the only other recognised senior strikers in the squad.

The Teddy Bears supporters would have also wanted to catch a glimpse of another new arrival in Matondo in what would have been his first competitive match for the club, but he will also be missing, and so the Gers now need to find a way to win without them.
