The board at Glasgow Rangers are reportedly considering whether to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Lowdown: Bad form

The Ibrox outfit are in a spell of really bad form at the moment, having lost three consecutive matches to bitter rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership as well as both Ajax and Napoli in the UEFA Champions League, conceding a total of 11 goals without response.

They currently sit bottom of their Champions League group and are five points behind Celtic in the Premiership table.

The Latest: Van Bronckhorst facing the sack?

As per Football Insider, Gers chiefs are thought to be 'increasingly concerned' over how far the team have fallen behind Celtic after their 4-0 thumping at the hands of their rivals, and the board are now set to meet and discuss Van Bronckhorst's position at the club.

The Dutchman could be dismissed 'within weeks', and he is believed to have told his friends that he is 'wary' of potentially getting the sack.

The Verdict: Needs time

Despite the recent poor results, Van Bronckhorst still needs time to turn things around.

The international break will give him the perfect opportunity to assess his squad and work on any tactical tweaks that could help go in his team's favour for the next round of fixtures.

Nonetheless, the Light Blues should not forget that he got them to the UEFA Europa League final last season, which they only lost on penalties, and also won them the Scottish Cup, so they should trust that he can still turn things around given more time.
