Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has shared a photo on Instagram confirming he is already back in Scotland after international duty.
Morelos back for Old Firm
Morelos had been away with Colombia during the international break, coming off the bench against both Venezuela and Chile. The long trip back from South America, though, had some worried he would not be able to feature against Celtic this weekend.
However, the £13.5m-valued striker’s latest social media activity confirms Steven Gerrard has nothing to worry about. On Thursday night, the 24-year-old uploaded a picture to his Instagram story which showed him posing in front of a Welcome Home sign. As such, he should be available to play tomorrow.
Morelos must start
It has been a difficult few months for Morelos’ relationship with Rangers. The Colombian has been fantastic for the 54-time Scottish champions ever since he signed back in 2017 for £1.08m, with 82 goals in 149 matches for the club.
However, that form has attracted plenty of interest from across the continent, and Morelos was heavily linked with a move away from Ibrox during the summer. In fact, he even reportedly agreed personal terms with Lille before a deal fell through.
It looked as though he would be departing and Gerrard clearly wasn’t happy with the situation – the 40-year-old actually took Morelos out of the starting line-up for three consecutive Premiership games.
Should Morelos start against Celtic?
However, the transfer window deadline has passed and Morelos is still at Rangers. Although the Gers have signed Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe, the former HJK Helsinki striker remains the star man. If he is available, he must surely start this weekend in what promises to be the biggest clash of the season so far.
