Rangers: Media criticise Alfredo Morelos performance -Rangers News

The media have criticised the performance of Alfredo Morelos despite Glasgow Rangers winning 1-0 at Ibrox in the Scottish League Cup on Wednesday night.

The Lowdown: Unconvincing

In truth, the performance was largely unconvincing from the home side, to the point where supporters booed their team off despite advancing to the next round.

Steven Davis got the only goal of the game, but the hosts laboured to a victory in the end, leaving more questions than answers, as Giovanni van Bronckhorst even admitted that Ibrox was right to be disappointed.

The Latest: Morelos criticised

Taking to Twitter, Gers reporter for The Athletic Jordan Campbell was particularly critical of Morelos, claiming that he had ‘not been the sharpest, to say the least’.

Scottish football journalist Bill Young was in agreement, claiming that the Colombia international looked ‘ring rusty’.

The Verdict: Chance not taken

Morelos was given a chance to impress van Bronckhorst from the start against Dundee in place of Antonio Colak, but did not do enough to displace the striker in the Light Blues’ regular starting line-up.

He saw one of his shots saved when put on through on goal by James Tavernier, a chance that he would have likely buried on another day, and as alluded to, did not look the sharpest across the pitch.

Morelos was dropped by Van Bronckhorst earlier in the season over concerns about his fitness and attitude, and perhaps the 26-year-old is still struggling with this judging by his latest performance.
