Willie Miller believes that Scott Wright will join Glasgow Rangers in a move that will see him move to Ibrox either in January or during the the summer.
Recently, Derek McInnes had revealed that the Gers are keen on signing Wright and he also revealed details about a chat he’d had with Steven Gerrard. Now, former Aberdeen star Willie Miller has revealed further details about a potential move to Ibrox for Wright.
Should Rangers sign Scott Wright?
Wright ‘destined’ to join Rangers
Miller recently wrote a column for the Evening Express, where he revealed that Wright is now ‘destined’ to join Rangers and stated that he could join the Ibrox-based side this month or when the summer transfer window opens.
He gave his opinion about Wright, saying that he should make a move as soon as possible and he urged both the clubs to agree a deal that suits all parties sooner rather than later.
He wrote: “Scott Wright seems destined to join Rangers and could leave Aberdeen this month or at the end of the season.
“My opinion is that if the attacker has decided he wants to move on, then it would be better that a deal is done sooner rather than later. A player swap deal has been mooted. Rangers could pay a fee or, with the Reds buying Ross McCrorie in the summer, a deal for Wright could be worked into that.
“I would rather the clubs could agree a deal which suits both of them in this window.”
In the current campaign, Wright has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Aberdeen. He has contributed to seven goals. A left-winger by trade, he has scored two Premiership goals for the side (as per Transfermarkt).
Last season, McInnes had praised Wright for his performance against Celtic: “When he came on, what a reaction. He (Wright) was terrific. I gave him a special mention in the dressing room there because I don’t think we could’ve got the result without him.”
Wright could add depth to Rangers’ team
Wright has the ability to not just play on the left, but he can also play on the right or as an attacking midfielder.
Rangers do have multiple options for the left-wing spot, but they have only Ianis Hagi as an option for the attacking midfield area and they don’t really have any out-and-out options for the right-wing (as per Transfermarkt).
Wright would bring Premiership experience to the Rangers side and signing him on a free transfer would be a good move for the Gers.
