The Lowdown: Big demands
Despite his success as a Rangers forward over the years, there is a feeling that the Colombian is on his way out of the club.
Having made the starting XI just once under former boss Giovanni Van Bronckhorst in the Scottish Premiership this season, the latest news on his contract talks is more fuel for the fire.
The Latest: Hutton’s hunch
Asked by Football Insider as to whether Rangers would be willing to meet Morelos’ big contract demands, Hutton said: “On current form, no.
“That is incredible for any team in Scotland to be paying that sort of wage. I can’t see that happening.
“You understand why the likes of Ross Wilson has said about the stumbling blocks. He did not exactly give the figures but you knew what he meant. I can’t see it happening.
“Morelos came on against [Bayer] Leverkusen and he did play well. I think Beale’s style of football is good for him because he is involved in the game. But if that is what he is asking for then I can’t see Rangers paying that.“
The Verdict: Urgent sale needed
If the club are unwilling to meet the demands of Morelos, they will need to cash in on him in the upcoming January transfer window, in what will serve as their last chance to make any money on what is one of the top two highest value assets at the club currently.
Whether Morelos would thrive under Beale or not is now a secondary concern, with the financial elements now being the primary matter at hand.
If he is to stay then Beale is likely to get the best out of him, despite a lack of meaningful minutes this season, but if not, then Rangers need to receive at least some remuneration for him.
