Alan Hutton has suggested that Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos’ attitude has changed as he knows no-one will look to sign him if he isn’t performing at Ibrox.
Morelos has changed outlook
Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton believes that the Colombia international’s attitude has improved as he knows him sulking helps no-one. The former Gers defender said:
“I think so, his whole demeanour’s different, his body language has changed.
“It could be anything, whether somebody has said to him: ‘Look, if you don’t up your game, one, you won’t be playing at Rangers, and two, you won’t get a move,’ so you’re not really helping anybody in the situation you’re in.
“So maybe something needed to change and it’s a shame to say that about a player because you just expect everybody turn up and give 100 per cent always, but it’s been a difficult season for him.
“It’s just good to see him come out of that now, I was going to say playing with a smile on his face but he never really does that!
“There’s so much competition now for places that you’re going to have to be on top of your game if you want to stay in the team.”
The chances are, Morelos will not be at Ibrox for too much longer. He was heavily linked with a move away from the 54-time Scottish champions last summer – Lille even had a £16m bid rejected for him (talkSPORT via The Daily Record) – and he has already admitted his desire to play in a more prestigious league (The Scottish Sun).
Is Alfredo Morelos a liability?
If he isn’t doing the business for the Gers in the Premiership which, with all due respect, is significantly lower in quality than Europe’s top-five leagues, then why would anyone look to invest an eight-figure fee in his services? The brace against the Dons was a start – for both his current club and his future, he must put in these kind of performances on a regular basis.
