Many Glasgow Rangers fans were delighted with the performance of Calvin Bassey against Arsenal as the Gers drew 2-2 at Ibrox on Saturday.

The Gers were in action in their third pre-season match of the summer as they hosted the Gunners in front of 2,000 supporters at their home stadium (rangers.co.uk). They twice took the lead as Leon Balogun and Cedric Itten found the back of the net, but Nuno Tavares and Eddie Nketiah were both on hand to level things up for Mikel Arteta's visitors.

With Borna Barisic currently away as he recovers from Euro 2020, Bassey was selected to play on the left side of the back four. Despite playing against top attacking talents such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe, the 21-year-old did not look at all out of place in the back four, which will have impressed Steven Gerrard.

Indeed, he produced a timely goal-line clearance to deny Aubameyang just before half-time, along with having a shot of his own shortly after the interval (rangers.co.uk).

These Gers supporters were delighted with what Bassey had to offer and they took to social media platform Twitter to share their thoughts. One Bear even dubbed the left-back an "absolute unit".
