Glasgow Rangers transfer target Daniel Johnson was in stunning form on Tuesday night, racking up two assists in his side’s win.
Preston prevailed 3-2 over Bournemouth at Dean Court, and 28-year-old Johnson was at the heart of the action for his side.
Rangers still interested?
The Gers were heavily linked with the £3.6m-valued Jamaican (Transfermarkt) during the summer, but he ended up staying at Deepdale. The Ibrox outfit’s offer was at least £500k short of what Preston were looking for, according to Lancashire Evening Post.
However, with his contract running out at the end of the campaign, Steven Gerrard and co may not even need to deal with Preston in January. Called “phenomenal” by Daryl Hogan, Johnson managed 12 goals and eight assists in the Championship last term. Brian Laudrup has called out for another supply of creativity and vision to join Joe Aribo with the Gers, and Johnson could well be that man.
Would you like to sign Daniel Johnson?
Performances such as the one on the south coast will have Gerrard watching, no doubt. It remains to be seen whether Ross Wilson returns in January to try and convince Johnson that Scotland is the right place for him.
In other news, Rangers fans hammer this man’s comments.
