Rangers: Niemi praises Glen Kamara

Rangers: Niemi praises Glen Kamara - Rangers News

In an interview with (via The Glasgow Times), former Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Antti Niemi has suggested Glen Kamara could play at a higher level than the Ibrox outfit.

Kamara could perform at a higher level

Kamara signed for the Gers in January 2019 from Dundee. He has since been linked with moves to Marseille (France Football) and Benfica (TEAMtalk), and he has also helped Finland qualify for Euro 2020.

Can you get 10/10 on our random Rangers players quiz? We doubt it...

Niemi is part of the Finnish set-up, and he believes that Kamara could perform in the best leagues in Europe. He said:

“Rangers are doing well, looks like they are going to win the league and Glen is one of their biggest players. He could play pretty much anywhere at the moment.

“If he was surrounded by world-class players he wouldn’t look out of place at all.

“Could he play at a higher level? Could he play in a more demanding league? Could he play in a team that could win things in top five leagues in Europe? My answer is yes.

“We’ve had some big games. Played against France, Poland, Greece, Bosnia and he has always been one of the best players on the pitch for us.

“His name is definitely on a lot of lists around Europe at the moment.”

Big future

The £50,000 the 54-time Scottish champions spent on Kamara (The Daily Record) now looks like one of the deals of the century, as Niemi continued to gush about how ‘smooth’ the midfielder is. The 25-year-old has since made 88 appearances for the Gers (Transfermarkt), including 33 this term as the Gers have moved 23 points clear at the top of the Premiership table (BBC). According to The Athletic, he is now worth £10m – a rather spectacular increase from the fee Rangers parted with two years ago.

Will Glen Kamara be at Rangers next season?

Once this season is over, a number of the club’s players are likely to be in demand, and Kamara could well be among that group. At some point, he should have the chance to back-up Niemi’s claim, even if the Gers will do all they can to keep him at Ibrox.

In other news, Rangers fans slam this pundit’s comments on one of their stars.
