Steven Gerrard says that Glasgow Rangers cannot afford to lose any of their star players in the coming months.
Gerrard makes transfer plea
With this being a huge campaign for the 54-time Scottish champions – they are looking for a first piece of major silverware since 2011 – Gerrard knows he cannot afford to lose any of his best performers. He said when talking about the future of Kamara:
“Everyone is working ever so hard to move the team forward.
“The last thing we need now is to lose a big part of that jigsaw.
“Glen has been absolutely sensational since he came in and it’s not just about what you’ve got left on your contract, it’s about what you deserve.
“It’s about protecting yourself from the future and what could possibly happen.
“Glen is happy, he’s enjoying his football, he’s happy here. For me it’s the right thing to do.
Gerrard makes a very good point – at the moment, keeping hold of their star players is of paramount importance to the Gers. There will be a time when the interest in Tavernier, Kamara and co will be too strong, but at the moment there is no reason for them to leave.
Does Kamara deserve a new contract?
Unbeaten in 26 matches, top of the Premiership and still in the Scottish League Cup and the Europa League, this promises to be a fantastic term for the Gers. Now, it is about seeing the job through. Hopefully, the Kamara situation will be sorted as soon as possible.
In other news, this Rangers transfer may now be in doubt…
