Former World Cup winner Rivaldo believes Glasgow Rangers' Ianis Hagi could join Steven Gerrard at Liverpool if the Gers boss moves to Anfield.

Rivaldo makes Hagi claim

Gerrard has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds (Daily Mirror), with whom he spent the biggest part of his career as a player.

Romanian journalist Emanuel Rosu has now revealed that the ex-Barcelona star believes Hagi could follow Gerrard to Liverpool if the 40-year-old does return to his former club, saying:

"I am sure Gerrard will go to Liverpool one day and maybe Ianis Hagi could make the step with him and follow him to Anfield."

Remains to be seen

Gerrard seems destined to manage the six-time European champions at some point in the future, given his indelible links to Liverpool. However, it would be more surprising if Hagi were to follow him to Anfield. In his first full campaign at Ibrox, the £5.4m-valued 22-year-old (Transfermarkt) has grown in importance throughout the campaign, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

However, he is yet to establish himself as one of the club's most important players, even if he has time to do so. The Premier League, and Liverpool in particular, would represent a huge increase in quality. The Romania international has plenty of work to do before warranting such a move.

In other news, some Rangers fans are livid at this Old Firm news.
