Glasgow Rangers target Joey Veerman has revealed he would be eager to join Feyenoord after they were linked with a move for the midfielder.
The Lowdown: Gers eye Veerman
The Gers have been heavily linked with a move for 22-year-old Veerman (Voetbal International), who currently plays in the Eredivisie with Heerenveen.
While Veerman has expressed his desire to depart, there has been no official move as of yet. Now, though, the Netherlands youth international has revealed where he would like to go.
The Latest: Veerman expresses Feyenoord desire
“My management have received some kind of offer. I think they have asked Heerenveen how much they want for me.
“So in the end I hear that they have not made an official offer with Heerenveen, but that they really want me.
“Yes, I would be a very happy man if I can go there (Feyenoord). It could be a good step for me. I certainly think so.”
The Verdict: Blow for Rangers
Rangers have been linked with Veerman throughout the transfer window. With nine goals and 11 assists in all competitions last team (Transfermarkt), he is a player with plenty of attacking threat. Dutch coach Robert Molenaar even labelled him as “extremely good” (via Inside Futbol).
Would you like to sign Veerman?
Valued at £7.65m (Transfermarkt), Veerman would set the Gers back a hefty fee if they were able to convince him to make the move to Ibrox.
However, with Atalanta also previously interested (The Daily Record) and Hellas Verona said to have made a bid (De Telegraaf), he has no lack of potential suitors in what could be quite a transfer race.
As the player himself now indicates his interest in Feyenoord, they would appear to be leaving the Gers and other candidates in the dust.
In other news, Rangers fans were livid with this journalist’s tweet.
