Glasgow Rangers fans are far from happy after SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan slammed the Gers over the Cinch sponsor row.

The Gers kicked off their Premiership title defence with a 3-0 victory over Livingston at Ibrox last Saturday in what was an impressive display. Ianis Hagi opened the scoring before Scott Wright and Kemar Roofe also netted - the 55-time Scottish champions already find themselves three points ahead of their fierce city rivals Celtic (BBC).

However, there was some controversy during the clash. The SPFL recently secured a new sponsorship deal with Cinch, but the Gers refused to feature the sponsor on their sleeves as well as on the advertising hoardings around the pitch for the match.

They believe there are gaps in the contract which mean they do not need to advertise Cinch (The Daily Record) - something which has not gone down well with MacLennan (The Scottish Sun).

The news of his fury was shared by The Scottish Sun's official Twitter account, and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.

Let's see what the fans had to say about MacLennan below

"Take Rangers money and give 4k to every other club.... that's how horrendous this deal is. Rangers will get their own sponsors who pay properly."

"Writing to other clubs for support against big bad Rangers. Other clubs will follow like sheep as we are the only club willing to call out the shambles running our game"

"Maybe someone in the media should ask why Doncaster is paid hundreds of thousands of pounds every year but can't be bothered sorting a league sponsor so pays another mob to do it at a cost of half a million quid."

"It’s a terrible deal worth less than £40k per club. The SPFL board undersell our game. The TV deal is laughable when compared to others around us in uefa rankings."

"It’s nothing to do with other clubs…incompetent spfl didn’t check with one of the leagues most valuable brands whether there was a conflict of interest or not..signed a deal which has one and now trying to blame Rangers for their own incompetence."
