Former Aberdeen youngster Frank Ross has compared Glasgow Rangers target Scott Wright to current Gers star Ryan Kent.
Wright compared to Kent
Ross believes that Kent is comparable to the current Gers winger. He said (via The Evening Express):
“He’s such a good player. I don’t think a lot of people have seen how good he is. On his day, he can just beat people and score.
“He reminds me of Ryan Kent, with the explosiveness he has. He can go in to Rangers and be one of their better players.
“Being a local boy from Balmedie, me and him used to drive in (to training) together and roomed together with Scotland. He’s such a nice lad, so he deserves it.
“We grew quite close, so it’s really good to see he’s playing up to his potential. I’m so happy for him.”
Plenty to do
Having been a teammate of the 23-year-old, Ross was always going to be positive in his appraisal of Wright. And clearly, he has plenty of ability, otherwise the 54-time Scottish champions would not be interested in signing him.
However, comparing him to £7.2m-valued Kent (Transfermarkt) seems to be a little too much. During his career at Pittodrie, Wright has seven goals and 11 assists in 76 games. He did have a positive spell at Dundee, where he managed three strikes and four assists in 13 matches, but he is yet to net more than three times in a single league campaign.
Would you compared Wright to Kent?
Kent’s end product, meanwhile, has come in for plenty of scrutiny in the past (The Daily Mail via The Daily Record), but he has still scored 20 and created 24 in 109 matches for the Gers. To be compared to the former Liverpool youngster, who was recently called “fantastic” by former Rangers boss Alex McLeish (Ibrox News), Wright must contribute more in the final third.
