Rangers: Gerrard discusses Scott Wright deal

Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has hinted that the Gers are on the brink of signing Scott Wright, while he has admitted some players could be leaving the club during this January transfer window.
Wright deal close
The Gers have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old (The Times), whose contract at Aberdeen will run out at the end of the season (Transfermarkt).
Speaking prior to his side’s match against Motherwell this weekend, Gerrard said that a deal for Wright is not too far away, and he also admitted there could be some departures from the club. Jordan Campbell relayed Gerrard’s comments about the Wright deal, while Gerrard himself added about potential departures (via The Glasgow Times):
“I don’t foresee any more additions but I do know there is quite a bit of interest around some of our players as well, so that will depend on who goes out the door what we decide to do in terms of incomings.
“As I said previously, if we could get Scott in the door that would be a major boost and something that we would welcome but I don’t think we are in a situation where we need to make many additions where we are right now.
“But I do predict there will be movement in the coming weeks because the phone is starting to warm up in terms of interest in our players.
“I can’t give you any names or anything that is done privately but there is definitely action in the background.”
Quick business
This deal looks like it could be an example of quick business from the Ibrox outfit. The interest in Wright only surfaced in the aftermath of the Gers’ 2-1 victory over Aberdeen last weekend, and now it looks like it will be only a matter of time before he is confirmed as a Rangers player.
Would you like to sign Scott Wright?
Yes

No

Gerrard’s comments about players leaving is interesting. It is likely that he is only talking about fringe squad members, but there is no doubt that a number of clubs will be looking at some of his star performers. He will be hoping the end of the window comes around as soon as possible.
In other news, Rangers fans love a video of this former soap star.
