Glasgow Rangers forward Ryan Kent is set to receive some attractive ‘proposals’ ahead of the January market, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Contract talks ongoing

The Premiership star’s contract at Ibrox is set to expire next summer, and having not yet put pen to paper on a new deal, his future remains up in the air.

The Light Blues’ managing director Stewart Robertson recently revealed that talks regarding fresh terms for both the 25-year-old and team-mate Alfredo Morelos are ongoing, although the club could risk losing Kent on a free transfer if an agreement can’t be reached.

The Latest: Kent’s secret admirers

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones disclosed that Kent had several clubs from overseas looking at him during the summer, with attention likely to be revived in the New Year.

He said of the Rangers forward: “I remember there was a couple of good clubs in Germany that I was told were interested in signing him. So, you would imagine he’s going to get some really good proposals in the coming months as we get towards January.”

The Verdict: Time to cash in

Kent has already refused a previous offer of a new contract, which clearly hints at a desire to leave Ibrox, and the Gers should cash in on him while they have the chance.

The winger has provided 51 assists and scored 31 goals during his time in Glasgow (Transfermarkt), so it makes sense that he is attracting interest, and the club should use this to their advantage when it comes to valuing him.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be suffering a body blow by losing Kent, but if Rangers sell him mid-season, they could put the funds towards incoming transfers in the January window, thus offsetting the loss of the 25-year-old.
