Rangers: Todd Cantwell wanted by PSV Eindhoven

Rangers transfer target Todd Cantwell is now the subject of interest from Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven, according to a fresh rumour.
The Lowdown: Cantwell wanted by Rangers
The Gers reached the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday, seeing off Aberdeen after extra-time, but reinforcements are likely still required at Ibrox this month as they trail Celtic by nine points in the league.
One player who has been linked with a move to Rangers is Cantwell, who has struggled to be a regular at Norwich City so far this season, making only nine Championship starts.
There have even been reports of the player undergoing a medical at Ibrox, but it looks as though Michael Beale could face stiff competition when it comes to trying to sign the midfielder, following a new update.
The Latest: PSV enter the race
According to Football Insider, PSV are ‘rivalling’ Rangers for the signing of Cantwell, having made a ‘surprise enquiry’ for the Englishman.
The Dutch side are looking to fill the void left by Cody Gakpo after his move to Liverpool earlier this month and the Norwich man is seen as an option.
The Verdict: Blow for the Gers
This is a worrying update from a Gers perspective, with Cantwell someone who could add real quality to their midfield, having been lauded as ‘special’ by former coach Gary Cockaday.
The decision may ultimately rest with the player himself if both the vying suitors offer Norwich the necessary financial compensation, and he must weigh up which club looks the most appealing, in terms of potential silverware and playing time.
Hopefully, Cantwell’s experience in the British game will sway his thinking, with a move north of the border not seen as much of a change in culture.
