Glasgow Rangers striker Robbie Ure is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract at Ibrox.
The Lowdown: Upcoming prospect
Ure is an upcoming prospect in the Gers' youth set-up, with four goals and three assists for their youth teams, while he also scored on his senior debut for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side (Transfermarkt).
Hailed as 'magic' by Scott Arfield after their 3-1 win at home to Queen of the South in the Premier Sports Cup, in which Ure scored his goal, the Scotsman will now be looking to be given more opportunities to impress in the first team.
The Latest: New deal close
As per Football Insider, all parties are now 'confident' a full agreement over a new long-term deal for Ure is 'close', and can be finalised 'soon'.
The club are in 'advanced talks' with the 18-year-old, and his camp met Ibrox officials last week for the latest round of discussions.
The Verdict: Right decision
It is certainly the right decision from the Light Blues to give Ure a new contract, especially considering his current deal expires next year.
His recent call-up to Scotland's U19 squad for the upcoming Slovenia Nations Cup shows just how well he has been playing of late, and is sure to get more chances in the Teddy Bears' first team.
Nonetheless, it is important for the club to keep hold of their best youngsters as they develop into more established players over time, especially after the loss of Rory Wilson this summer.
