Journalist Pete O'Rourke says that Glasgow Rangers are in 'advanced' talks over giving young striker Robbie Ure a new contract.

The Lowdown: Match-winner

Ure was recently the match-winner for Rangers' U19s as they won 3-2 in the opening game of their UEFA Youth League group on Wednesday afternoon.

After going 2-0 up, the young Gers were pegged back to 2-2 by Napoli, before Ure came up with winning goal to give his side all three points.

The Latest: New contract

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O'Rourke has shared that the Ibrox outfit are in 'advanced' talks over a new deal for Ure, adding that he fully expects the in-house agreement to get done:

“Talks are at an advanced stage, I think, between the club and Robbie Ure, so I fully expect this one to get done.”

The Verdict: Great move

It is certainly a great move by the club to tie 18-year-old Ure to a long-term contract.

The striker is clearly a top prospect, having already netted five goals and made four assists in 16 games at youth level, while he has already made his debut for the senior team, scoring no less as well (Transfermarkt).

His recent call-up to Scotland’s U19 squad for the upcoming Slovenia Nations Cup shows how much Ure has been impressing for the youth sides, and he is certainly a player that is capable of breaking into the first team on a more regular basis once he gets older.
