Ross McCausland could now leave Glasgow Rangers on loan as an English club have joined the race for his signature.

The Lowdown: Impressing for Rangers B

McCausland is a player that has been impressing for Rangers B, scoring the opening goal in their 3-0 win against Spartans in the Scottish Lowland League on Tuesday night.

In pre-season, he scored in a friendly against Elgin City, and also featured in a 6-3 loss to Glentoran (Football Insider).

McCausland was given an extension on his contract back in September, which keeps him at Ibrox until 2024.

The Latest: Rochdale interest

As per Football Insider, English League Two club Rochdale have now joined the race to sign McCausland on loan, with Doncaster Rovers currently leading the fight for his signature.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team are willing to loan him out for this term, in a deal that would include a January break clause.

The Verdict: Great move

It would certainly be a great move for the 19-year-old McCausland to go out on loan and get regular minutes in senior men's football.

He is clearly highly thought of at the Gers having been granted a contract extension, while he made his senior debut for the club in the 3-1 win away win at Hearts in the Scottish Premiership last campaign, grabbing himself an assist (Transfermarkt).

With the likes of Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo joining, the winger would have struggled for minutes in the senior side this season, but he should be able to get regular game time in England's fourth division.
